Brisa Student Drive Camp

Promoting road safety among young people

The Brisa Student Drive Camp program includes several activities that aim to allow participants to have direct contact with the world of automobiles and driving.

This Brisa initiative is the result of a partnership with Fórum Estudante and the purpose is to raise awareness of the best safe driving and road safety practices among secondary school and professional school students. 50 students from all across the country will be selected and trained as ambassadors.

National road safety statistics highlight how important this issue is for young people. Despite the fact that the occurrence of road accidents has decreased among young people, 3 out of 10 accidents involve victims aged under 25 years old.

Accidents that occur on weekends account for over 40% of deaths and serious injuries between the ages of 18 and 24 years old. A third of these accidents take place between midnight and 8 o'clock in the morning. On the other hand, half of the total death and serious injuries toll in this age group is the result of situations where the car spins off the road.

Brisa Student Drive Camp 2016 will be one of the high points of the Leiria Young Capital of Road Safety event and is the result of a partnership between Brisa and Leiria City Hall, Fórum Estudante and the Leiria Polytechnic Institute.
